Using the wrong tools has never worked out well for me and previous experience from the GD427 build plus researching other blogs gave me an excuse to acquire a few new tools and materials via Amazon & Ebay.
Tools & Materials
- ACF50 – general rust protection
- Cavity wax – grot traps, chassis tubes and DeDion tube
- Paint markers – torque confirmation
- Auto masking tape – body work protection
- Heat shrink tubing (various sizes)
- Butane heat gun – for heat shrink
- Copper grease – anti-seize
- WD40 Silicone Lubricant – easing rubber, nylon fittings
- Loctite Medium and Strong – threadlocking
- Sikaflex 221 and 521 – various bonding jobs
- Cable ties – from what I can see everything on Seven needs at least one
- Clarke car-creeper / seat – I’m getting older and lying on a concrete floor is less appealing these days
- 3/4″ torque wrench – in addition to 1/2″ and 1/4″ I already own
- Clarke 1/2″ digital torque adapter – for the hub nuts
- Pin punchs – mainly for locating bolts
- Dead blow hammer – for the times when a little persuasion is necessary
- Crows foot spanners – gives me an option where there is limited access
- Air rivet gun – interior panel replacement
- LED work lights – my eyes are getting older
- Clarke pneumatic brake bleeder
- Engine load leveller
- Pair of mobile axle stands
- Air angle drill & 12V angle drill
- Various clamps for holding edge trim in place
- 1/4″, 3/4″, 1/2″ socket sets (metric and imperial)
- Hex and Torx bits for socket sets (mainly 3/4″)
- LED lights & torches
I’ll add to this list as I come across any other tools, parts or materials that prove useful during the build.
